What connects Damian Green and Derek Conway?
The incompetence of the Metropolitan Police.
In the case of Damian Green they have arrested an MP for doing his job, and I am actually pretty sure they have broken constitutional law in doing it.
In the case of Derek Conway, nearly a year after I wrote three letters (the last one to Sir Ian Blair) to them raising the issue of the employment of his sons, I have never had a reply - despite their own standards saying they will reply to all letters within 10 days.
So an MP does his job, arrest him. An MP rips off taxpayers, pretend to be an ostrich and ignore it.
I would say it is time the government held a major review of the Met. But why don't I trust Jacqui Smith with that... I wonder.
