Allain Rolland should be shot
>> 02 December, 2008
I have always lived by the ethos that in Rugby Union you are magnanimous in defeat and that you applaud both teams for their efforts. You also always accept the refereeing decisions.
The All Blacks rightly came away from Saturday's Autumn Test as Grand Slam winners.
But, not for the first time, I thought that Allain Rolland's refereeing was appalling, and especially where England were concerned. Four sin binning's for England, while blatant fouls by the All Blacks were ignored. Toby Flood's yellow card was ridiculous, it should have been a penalty. Meanwhile kiwis smoothered the ball, constantly went offside, forward passed and knocked on without even a whistle being blown.
So I am breaking with the gentlemanly conduct, and have joined the Allain Rolland should be shot Facebook group...

is he French by any chance?
Irish, with a French father.
Ah. Two nations with a sterling record of brotherly love and affection for the English, especially in sport.
Many, many moons ago a whisky advert was of an old teuchter sitting in his croft saying words to the effect "ochone, ochone, I support two rugby footbal teams - Scotland and whoever is playing against England." Thats me that is.
;-)
PS - Blog's looking a bit different.
