How Palin used her veto to slash funding for teenage mothers

>> 04 September, 2008

Sarah Palin in her speech to the RNC made much of her use of her executive veto as demonstration of how she claims to be up to the job of being Vice President.
So what did she do with it earlier this year? She used her line-item veto to slash funding for a state program benefiting teen mothers in need of a place to live. How deeply ironic, given that her 17-year old daughter is pregnant. I am not going to attack her over her daughter's pregnancy, but the use of her veto on this is a totally different issue!

The Post account ignores the fact the money received by the teen shelter was a threefold increase in prior year's grant funding. She increased spending; she did not slash these funds.

Presumably she thinks would-be teen mothers ought to have abortions, er, or something.

And apparently the teen pregnancy rate has gone up since the introduction of abstinence only sex education.......
