GLA Tory walkout when top police issue is discussed

>> 14 July, 2008

Ed Fordham has the story of how Conservative London Assembly member Brian Coleman, who is oh so keen to shout from the roof tops when it will get him some publicity, left the room for the discussion of the Metropolitan Police Authority Estates Strategy which will see the closure of 60 Police Stations across London.
Interestingly Ed says:

"I should add for the record that no other Conservative Assembly Member asked a single question on the estates strategy... so much for the principled stand they claim to be taking!"

I see that Bexley & Bromley Conservative London Assembly Member James Cleverly was at the meeting, and he is a member of the Metropolitan Police Authority. So I ask publicly, why the silence James?

Because being a member of the MPA I already know what is going on.

By the way which bit of Kit's answer did you feel I ought to have come back on?

I still would think that as a GLA member you should ask questions to which you know the answer in order that they are minuted for the body the public elected you to. And I say that in an attempt to be constructive not critical.
