Hampstead Rugby Club should be pleased, I am.

>> 13 May, 2008

Martin Johnson has announced the England squad for the summer tour, and it is good news for exciting Rugby.
Four Quins make it into the squad - Danny Care as first choice scrum, David Strettle on the wing, Mike Brown as the only dedicated Full back and No 8 Nick Easter.
Along with the Harlequins players are 7 Wasps (which is why the Hampstead Rugby Club of 1870 should be happy, with 11 players from their descendants, hence the cryptic title of this posting!).
And 5 great players from the Exiles.
These are all players from exciting clubs that play creative rugby. Great news for the English game. I am particularly impressed by the line up of wings: Strettle (Quins), Paul Sackey (Wasps) and Topsy Ojo (London Irish).
And to cap it all, Harlequin Will Skinner is called up as England Saxons captain, together with Quins colleagues Tom Guest, Chris Robshaw, Adrian Jarvis and Ugo Monye
Hurrah!

Paul Sackey plays for London Wasps not Quins.

Whoops. I moved Strettle from Quins to Wasps and Sackey from Wasps to Quins. Correcting...
